The club is bigger than any player.

If Salah's demands will upend the entire wage structure at the club, you'd want to negotiate it down somewhat. Just giving him whatever he wants because he's good could screw the club down the line.

Look at Barcelona. A huge part of their recent troubles was players om wages that were too high. Messi had to leave because of that mess.

So, yeah, Salah should be well compensated, but there's a limit, no matter how good you are.
