Luka's been the preseason favorite to win MVP the last couple of years so I feel like confirmation bias would kick in and it would go to Luka, especially when Giannis has two MVPs already

I wouldn't be surprised if they give it to Luka because it would be "his turn" and the media would be hesitant to give Giannis a third.

Giannis currently has a .599 TS%, which would be his worst in five years.

Luka currently has a .632 TS% on a league-leading 36 PPG. Both numbers would be quite a large jump up from Luka's previous career highs (.587 TS% and 28.8 PPG).

If those numbers hold, Luka wins unless the Bucks have a pretty huge gap in win total. However, it's probably highly unlikely that they will.

Defense has historically been overlooked in MVP races, largely because it’s incredibly hard to quantify. If the advanced metrics that (at least attempt) to include defensive impact continue to give the edge to Luka, I doubt Giannis will get much credit for superior defense.
