The thunder has been adamant that they believe he can be a point guard, that's he's only 20 years old and will grow into the position. But there are mixed opinions. Some believe he might be better off as a shooting guard or sixth man. Westbrook, though, proved Presti knew what he was doing selecting him no. 4 overall when many had him going much later in the draft.He's extremely athletic and can play a key role. For now, the thunder believes that role is point guard.

Possibly but that's probably asking too much for a team that won only 23 games. But this is a team that should show dramatic improvement in the next year or two.If they add the right free agent or land a really good draft pick, they could be a surprise contender. Making the playoffs next year is probably asking too much but this is a team on the rise that should be a playoff contender, if not in 2009-10 then in 2010-11.

On a scale of 1-10 you can only give the Thunder low marks. The Thunder finished with the fourth worst record in the league, or put another way, 26 teams were better. Still there is a lot of pride among Thunderfans. This team, even though it lost so many games, was very competitive for much of the season. We had a ton of close games that the Thunder wasn't able towin, but was right there the whole way. I think Sam Presti's job this year will be to find a big man that will help protect the basket and improve interior defense, and find a veteran or two who can contribute, yet provide leadership and an example of winning. He also has to make decisions on three restricted free agents: Desmond Mason, Malik Rose and Robert Swift.

Everyone you ask will have a different opinion of the guys in the draft this year but I will give you mine. If we get the very top pick, I would of course choose Blake Griffin from Oklahoma. If we don't get the top pick, my next choice would be James Harden from Arizona state. He is a shooting guard who is a great passer and facilitator. He can drive and shoot and has a thick body. I see him as a 12-15 year player in the NBA. If Harden is gone, I like DeJuan Blair of Pitt.
With our second first round pick, if we didn't get Harden with the first then Ilike Wayne Ellington or Chase Buddinger or Nick Calathes. If we did get Harden with the top pick, I like the team to move up with a trade enough to get DeJuan Blair with our second pick.

Russell Westbrook is intriguing. He's too good and dominant to be a bench player right now, but he has holes in his game. He turns the ball over too much, and at times he forces his offense, both with the drive and with the jumper. He also shot for low percentage this year. His shot is not broken, his pull up is coming along and his form looks great, right now it's about shot selection, and learning the delicate balance between taking the shot and passing for a better one. He also needs a better commitment to defense. At times he was very good on defense, at other times he wasn't. I think this up coming season we need to see improvement from Russell in those areas. If we do, I think he can be our PG of the future. If not, then maybe it's time to move him over to the two, or use him alongside a better facilitator.

No, I don't think the Thunder will make the playoffs next season. The Western Conference is too stacked and the Thunder would have to make a huge leap. I look for the '10-'11 season as the playoff year. But, if we sneak in next season that would be great.

This season was two parts: the P.J. Carlesimo part and the Scott Brooks part. For Carlesimo's tenure, I'd say the team scored about a two. They were in games, won a few and played with a lot more intensity and emotion. So seeing as Carlesimowas coach for about 15 percent of the season, I'd give the team a six. Add an inside post presence. Oklahoma City really lacks a physical big manon the inside and whether that comes through the draft or free agency, that's the main focus. Nenad Krstic is a nice offensive option, but he's not that dominating rebounder/shot blocker a successful team needs. Other than that, an outside shooter would be really helpful. This season Kevin Durant and Jeff Green made almost 80 percent of the team's threes combined. OKC needs an outside threat.

Obviously my favorite pick would be Blake Griffin. He fits exactly what this team needs - a big, strong physical post scorer and rebounder. After that, I think Ricky Rubio could be a nice pick. He's clearly the second best player in this draft and with Russell Westbrook being able to play the off-guard fairly well, that could be a nice backcourt. I anticipate the Thunder getting the third or fourth pick and probably taking Hasheem Thabeet or Jordan Hill.

I think he needs time. People forget about great point guards development. Devin Harris wasn't an All-Star right away. Deron Williams took time to evolve. Steve Nash didn't become the dominant player he is now until about his fifth season. Point guard is a really difficult position to play and Westbrook was playing it exclusively for the first time this year. Hewas one rebound shy of becoming the fourth rookie ever to have 1,200 points,400 rebounds and 400 assists (Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Alvin Adams). I think he did pretty good this year. Next year is big for him. If he hasn't shown marked improvement in controlling the game 20 games in, then something might need to change.

I don't think OKC will be a playoff team next year, but I do think they should win at least 35 games. The talent is there, but it's still young. In order to make a playoff run, you're banking on three guys under the age of 24 to become elite players. And that's a big bet. But with some success in the free agent market and some luck in the draft, the Thunder could make a playoff push. But I don't expect it.

It always was about building for the future, and after the rough start, the Thunder certainly improved and set themselves up for great improvement. The major needs for Sam Presti is interior defense. Either through the draft or free agency, the Thunder must guard the basket better. The Thunder doesn't necessarily need a shot blocker, but it must have a guy who fiercely guards the paint. He's wonderfully athletic, and everyone thinks he will become a defensive stopper. He's a penetrator deluxe. His flaws are that his decision-making is still shaky and he's not a great shooter. There are about 29 NBA teams that hope the Thunder listens to the skeptics and moves Westbrook off the point.

I think Sam Presti's job this year will be to find a big man that will help protect the basket and improve interior defense, and find a veteran or two who can contribute, yet provide leadership and an example of winning. I see him as a 12-15 year player in the NBA. If Harden is gone, I like DeJuan Blair of Pitt.

Russell Westbrook is intriguing. He's too good and dominant to be a bench player right now, but he has holes in his game. He turns the ball over too much, and at times he forces his offense, both with the drive and with the jumper. He also shot for low percentage this year. His shot is not broken, his pull up is coming along and his form looks great, right now it's about shot selection, and learning the delicate balance between taking the shot and passing for a better one. He also needs a better commitment to defense. At times he was very good on defense, at other times he wasn't. I think this up coming season we need to see improvement from Russell in those areas. Add an inside post presence. Oklahoma City really lacks a physical big manon the inside and whether that comes through the draft or free agency, that's the main focus. Nenad Krstic is a nice offensive option, but he's not that dominating rebounder/shot blocker a successful team needs. Other than that, an outside shooter would be really helpful. This season Kevin Durant and Jeff Green made almost 80 percent of the team's threes combined. OKC needs an outside threat.
